Training is a key element of the TWOA-GC referee experience. Consequently, a few of the basic training requirements include attending one of our two local officiating clinics, the annual evaluation tournament and the successful completion of the NFHS Wrestling Rules Examination (Part I).
In addition, training continues at each of our regularly scheduled association meetings. These meetings are held at Jax Grill and are generally held every two weeks during the wrestling season (October thru February). The meetings are very casual and start at 6:30pm and end at around 8:15pm. Regular meeting attendance is expected of all members.
The scheduled dates for the two officiating clinics, the annual evaluation tournament and the Jax Grill meetings can be found on our Meetings page.
Our association is comprised of a diverse group of about 50 dedicated referees. The range of experience varies from a few months to over 40 years ... and the level of competency varies from youth qualified to college certified. We are always looking for new referees at all skill levels. A few related links:

Registration & Dues
Registration and $50 annual dues are made through the TWOA/Arbiter website. Registration is required to receive your NFHS books, liability insurance, online testing and to officiate any Texas wrestling event.
- To begin the registration process click HERE.
- If you've previously registered with TWOA/Arbiter, make sure to sign-in to the TWOA/Arbiter website before registering for this season!
- The process will require you to provide some basic information, disclose your conviction status, digitally sign several TWOA statements, select our chapter from a list, upload a photo (optional) and submit your payment (credit card or e-check).
- When completed, you will receive an email confirming your registration and dues payment.
The scheduling process occurs twice a season ... in late October (for the first half of the season) and then again in early December (for the second half of the season). The process involves an online bidding system that allows you to select and rank your preferred events. After the bidding process is complete, most officials will be assigned one weekday event and one Saturday event per week. In any case, you will be assigned to events that best match your officiating capability. All wrestling events and referee assignments can be found on the Schedules page.
NFHS Rule & Case Books
The NFHS Rule & Case books are the official rules source for high school wrestling in Texas. These books are provided as part of your membership dues. The only exception to these rules would be those listed in the UIL Wrestling Manual. The middle school and youth programs also follow these rules with a few appropriate exceptions (weight classes, etc). The youth program rules can be found in the Youth Rules & Regulations manual.
The TWOA-GC Executive Board consists of a President, Vice-President (rules commissioner), Director, Secretary/Treasurer and Past President. The respective duties and responsibilities of each office are contained in the TWOA-GC Bylaws. The Executive Board members for this season are:
The TWOA-GC fee schedule for high school events and middle school events can be found on page 2 of the Agreement For Officiating Services. These fees are based upon the officiating fees set by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). The TWOA-GC fee schedule for youth events can be found on the Special Addendum for Youth Wrestling Tournaments. It is important to note that all officiating fees are paid directly to the respective referee. Consequently, you will be responsible for the payment of all related income taxes.
