♦ UIL 2011-12 Wrestling Exam - Part II - This test is based on the 2011-12 NFHS rule and case books and is now open on the UIL/Arbiter website. The test must be completed by Friday, January 6th (no extensions will be granted). In addition, this test must be completed (85% or greater score) in order to officiate any major post season event (UIL Regional or UIL State). And, finally, please note that you will have only one attempt to complete this test. To complete, click HERE or on the green box in the right sidebar of this page.

To access the survey, simply click on the unique link in the email that was sent to each official today. Please make sure to complete before the cutoff date (Thursday 12/08).

Hopefully, we'll get Claudia Malo's picture taken soon! In any case, as you can see, our membership has swelled to 58 officials ... an all time high!

♦ Second Jax Meeting - Our second association meeting of the season took place on Tuesday October 18th. The meeting was held at Jax Grill and a total of 29 folks attended. In attendance were 2 new officials (Ben Lang & Timeka Williams) ... this brings the total number of new officials (who have attended a Jax meeting) to 15. ♦ Officiating Clinics - On Saturday October 29th a total of 27 officials attended our first officiating clinic of the season at Episcopal HS. Our next officiating clinic is scheduled for Saturday November 5th at Cypress Ridge HS ... a total of 32 officials are scheduled to attend that clinic (which will make it the largest clinic ever!).

This is being published to get us through this week and next weekend. A few related comments:- I noticed that several officials submitted their bids but have not registered with UIL. Remember, you will not be assigned to any event unless you have registered with the UIL (and paid your dues).
- I also noticed that several officials bid for events on Saturday November 5th ... but were not considered because those same officials are scheduled to attend the Cypress Ridge officiating clinic on that same day.
- In addition, a few of the new officials bid on events scheduled prior to the Klein Oak evaluation tournament. Unfortunately, I can't schedule you until we complete your initial evaluation and training.
- There are still a few slots open on Saturday November 5th ... if you are interested in filling any of these slots please let me know ASAP.
- I will publish another schedule later this week that will take us through November 26th. The remaining assignments for the first half of the season will be completed after the Klein Oak evaluation tournament.

In attendance were 13 new officials (Lonnie Bartley, Franky Dowdy, Mike Flannery, Alyssa Flores, Haley Flores, Claudia Malo, Ashby Michaca, Don Milbourn, Justin Sanchez, Sean St. Clair, Amber Stokes, Larry Sullivan & Andrew Wilson) ... and 4 returning officials (John Ekster, Lonnie Lukes, Tyler Lukes & Jeron Quincy). ♦ Officiating Clinics - The venues have been determined for the upcoming officiating clinics (Episcopal HS & CyRidge HS) ... the dates and venues are noted on the Meetings page. Remember, attendance at one of these 2 clinics is required ... of course, you are more than welcome to attend both of the clinics (the same material is covered in both clinics). Please note that lunch and drinks will be provided.

- UIL Officials Compliance Program - This is a development program that emphasizes the critical role official's play in creating a positive culture in youth sports. - UIL 2011-12 Wrestling Exam - Part I - This test is based on the 2011-12 NFHS rule and case books. This is an OPEN BOOK test. You can cheat, use your rules and case books, call a friend, use a lifeline ... whatever you want! Just remember that you must attain a minimum score on this test to officiate at any level. ♦ Meeting Schedule - The association meeting schedule has been set for the first half of the season ... you can find the specific dates on our Meetings page. Our first meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 3rd (at Jax Grill, of course!).
By the way, there are 16 new folks ("Newbies!") who have expressed interest in joining our association this season. With that said, please make a special effort to attend our first meeting to welcome them to our association. In any case, please take a minute to mark all of these dates on your calendar!
♦ TWOA State Clinic - The annual TWOA State Clinic will be held on Saturday, October 1st at Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park, TX (just north of Austin). The clinic will run from 9:30am to 2:00pm ... lunch and refreshments will be provided. A few further comments:
♦ NFHS Rules Changes - The various documents relating to the 2011-12 NFHS Rules Changes can be found on the Downloads page. Of special note is the major revamping of the weight classes ... now listed at 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220 and 285. In addition, the Figure-4 hold around any part of the body is now illegal. Another significant change now makes the 2" boundary line inbounds.
♦ UIL Registration - The online UIL Sports Officials Registration website is now open for business! Unlike last season, UIL requires the payment of your $50 state dues during the registration process. A few comments:

- The process will require you to provide some basic information, disclose your conviction status, digitally sign several UIL statements, select our chapter from a list, upload a photo (optional) and submit your payment (credit card or e-check). By the way, make sure to select our chapter from the list of chapters!
- When completed, you will receive 2 emails ... one confirming your registration and another confirming your dues payment.
